How do I take the ferry to Lokrum?

Short answer

The official Lokrum boat leaves from Dubrovnik's Old Port (City Harbour). A EUR 30 adult ticket covers both the return boat and entry to the Lokrum Reserve, and you buy it at the Luža ticket office in the Old Port or online. On the current timetable, valid from 28 September 2026, boats leave the Old Port at 09:00 and then every 30 minutes from 10:00 to 17:00, and the last boat back from Lokrum leaves at 18:00. In bad weather the boat does not run.

Ticket Price
Adult EUR 30
Child (under 7) Free
Child (7 to 18) EUR 5
Student EUR 10
Disability of 50% or more (with certificate or ID card) Free

Where the boat leaves from

The official Lokrum boat departs from the City Harbour, the Old Port, and the crossing takes less than 15 minutes. The ticket office is at Luža in the Old Port, open 08:00 to 16:00 (+385 99 476 5224, sales@lokrum.hr), and you can pay there by card. You can also buy tickets online on the Lokrum Reserve's official shop, shop.lokrum.hr.

What the ticket includes: the EUR 30 adult ticket includes entry to the Lokrum Reserve and the return transfer on the official Lokrum boat. Everything you can visit on the island is covered by that ticket; only food and drinks cost extra. A purchased ticket can be used up to three days after the date printed on it.

When Lokrum is open

Lokrum is not open all year. In 2025 the last sailing day was Sunday 14 December, and the island stayed closed until the Feast of St Blaise at the start of February 2026. During the feast, admission was free for all visitors. After that, the island was open on weekends only until 31 March, with boats on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00 and the last boat back at 16:00. The regular timetable started on 28 March 2026.

Getting to Lokrum on your own boat

If you arrive by private boat, water taxi or any other transport you arrange yourself, you still pay the EUR 30 entrance ticket. It is sold on arrival at the Forester's House on the island, open 09:00 to 16:00 (+385 99 161 1144). Arranging your own transport does not reduce the price.

Combining Lokrum with Trsteno

The Lokrum Reserve also sells a EUR 42 boat trip on the route Dubrovnik, Trsteno, Lokrum, Dubrovnik. The ticket includes entry to the Lokrum Reserve and the boat. Entry to the Trsteno Arboretum costs an extra EUR 8 per person. Tickets are sold through pvdp.hr.

Discounts with the Dubrovnik Pass

The Dubrovnik Pass does not include Lokrum, but it gives a discount on the adult ticket: 30% with the 7-day pass and 20% with the 3-day pass.

Rules on the island

Lokrum has been a protected special forest reserve since 1948. It covers 72 hectares, forest covers about 90% of the island, and it is part of Dubrovnik's historic core on the UNESCO World Heritage List. On the island it is forbidden to:

  • smoke, light fires or use an open flame
  • feed or disturb wild animals
  • leave the marked footpaths and visitor areas
  • fly a drone without authorisation
  • leave rubbish outside the marked bins
  • stay on the island before the first or after the last official boat

What to see once you are there

The Dubrovnik Tourist Board lists four bathing spots on Lokrum, all reachable only by sea from the city: the Dead Sea, Portoč, Ploče – Lokrum and one more rocky beach. Lokrum was also a Game of Thrones location, used for scenes set in Qarth, and the island has a replica of the Iron Throne that visitors can sit on.

Local tip: there is a café and a restaurant on the island, but on busy days it can be hard to find a seat. Bring the basics with you, at least water.

How do I get from Dubrovnik Airport to the Old Town?

The easiest way is the official Platanus shuttle bus. It costs EUR 10 one way, leaves about 30 minutes after every arriving flight and stops at Ploče Gate, the main entrance to the Old Town, roughly 30 minutes later. A taxi costs around EUR 40 to 60 and makes sense for groups or heavy luggage. The airport is 22.5 km from Dubrovnik, and the drive usually takes 30 to 35 minutes, or up to an hour in summer.
